At NGPod Global, we are dedicated to providing innovative solutions to the patient safety issues surrounding nasogastric (NG) tube placement

Through engagement with clinicians and patients, our highly skilled team have been involved in the development and delivery of innovative products for almost 30 years.
Our founder has a proven track record in the medical technology sector driven by a focus on the patient safety journey – enabling us to deliver innovative, customer-focused healthcare solutions that address the challenges faced in the safe delivery of essential nutritional care.

Located in the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, our head office is situated in Manchester Science Park with Manufacturing and R&D Operations taking place in the United Kingdom at Sci-Tech Daresbury, Cheshire.

OUR STORY

The young daughter of an inventor fell ill and had to be fed through a Nasogastric (NG) feeding tube. Observing the difficulties and variations in how different nurses confirmed the position of the NG tube before feeding he thought there had to be a better way to do this and improve the care pathway for patients requiring Nasogastric (NG) tubes.

Using patented fibre-optic sensor technology, the NGPOD® takes the pH test to the distal end of the NG tube inside the patient.

This CE marked device has been designed to be an alternative to conventional feeding tube position confirmation tests – delivering a clear, simple indication that requires minimal clinical interpretation. In particular it increases the percentage of patients who can be pH tested (the recommended first line method in the UK, USA & other countries) as it removes the issue of obtaining aspirate from patients.

The device is intended for use by healthcare professionals for patients who require enteral feeding or medication via nasogastric (NG) feeding tubes in the acute, out-patient or homecare environment.

Stephen Thorpe

Chief Executive Officer
As founder and CEO, my priority is to make sure we are in the right markets, with the right products. We do this through engagement with Key Opinion Leaders to identify, solve and deliver solutions to safety and efficiency issues that clinicians experience in their day-to-day practice. 'Listen, Develop, Deliver' is the underpinning process that has driven our success to date. The future for us is to expand our scope as a driver and enabler for improving safety and efficiency in clinical practice. In 2014, I received recognition as Ernst & Young ‘NW Entrepreneur of the Year’ - Business products and services following almost 15 years leading continuous growth of the UK’s leading infusion device healthcare distributor. I am also a current an Entrepreneur in Residence at Lancaster University, passing on my experiencee to undergraduate and post-graduate students.

Adam Partington

Operations Manager
A PRINCE2 qualified Project Manager and Chartered Scientist with a Life Science academic background, I am adept in the end-to-end management of complex multidisciplinary projects in highly regulated commercial science environments. Key strengths include: scoping projects across roadmaps, milestones and deliverables to drive efficiency and safeguard delivery; taking control of failing projects and embedding effective rescue strategies to ensure fulfilment of contractual obligations to clients; engaging with internal and external stakeholders to obtain buy-in and nurture successful collaborations; and managing third party vendors to develop clarity around expectations and ensure delivery against SLAs.

John Davies

Product Development Engineer
I have 40 years’ experience in electronics design, servicing, fault-finding to component level & repairs. My main strengths lie in electronic design, encompassing both analogue & digital applications and writing software. I have experience in Z8 microcontroller designs. I am proficient in P.C.B. design and adept in the use of Proteus (schematic capture & PCB design) PC CAD package. I have designed & developed many bespoke electronic systems and have written many bespoke Windows applications.

I have been working within the MedTech industry since graduating from university, gaining invaluable experience in all aspects of business. I have a growing interest in the market access route for innovative medical devices, in particular new product development and route to market strategies for disruptive technologies. Key strengths include: KOL engagement, marketing and communications, account management, social media management, managing exhibitions and company events.

Denisa Khan

In my previous role I was executive assistant to the Board of Directors & Chairman of a large UK PLC. My experiencee there enables me to lead the administrative, finance and HR aspects of this exciting medtech start-up.

Rosemary Howell

Clinical Trial Lead
I am an experienced manager with the skills and experience start-up and emerging medical device and diagnostic companies need to develop, test and launch products which will meet customer needs. I have over 30 years sales, marketing, business development and management experience in the healthcare sector, working with a variety of companies including medical devices, nutritional products, medical diagnostics, generic and branded pharmaceuticals.
